Description

Richmond Furniture Scheme's aims and objectives are to:

- Alleviate poverty by collecting donations of furniture in good condition from the general public and make it available to people in need at minimal cost.
- Encourage re-use and refurbishment of furniture and household goods thus reducing the amount of materials sent to landfill.
- Promote awareness of waste reduction by involving more of the community in the process of re-use.
- Improve the quality of the natural environment and promote a healthy living environment by encouraging those that throw goods out to donate to those in a low income group; all the while assisting youth groups to refurbish and re-use furniture.
- Preserve valuable resources by reducing the use of primary materials (e.g. wood). To do this we utilise self-employed carriers to collect and deliver furniture and household goods. To collected goods are stored in our warehouses for people to view and purchase them.

If you live in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames we would be grateful if you could let us know of any furniture that you might have to donate. Upholstered furniture must have a fire-retardant label on it, be clean, unstained, and in good condition. We cannot accept electrical items or white goods.

Anyone who is a resident in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames (or who has been nominated for housing by Richmond Housing Department) can visit our premises to purchase furniture. There is a £300 limit on the amount one person can buy - unless part of a fund-raising activity. If you are on benefits you can obtain a referral letter that will enable you to buy furniture and household goods at an even lower price (please see our website for more details).

We are open to the public from Monday - Thursday from 10am - 3pm, and on the first Saturday of every month from 10am - 12pm (except Bank Holidays).
