The London Re-use Network

LCRN completes contract negotiations for £8.1m London Re-use Network

July 2010, The Mayor announces the London Waste and Recycling Board’s (LWARB) investment to LCRN to progress the project, starting with a signed contract with LWARB.
The investment is being managed through a new company, London Re-use Limited, which will grow and develop the London Re-use Network in partnership with LCRN. Since the announcement, LCRN have negotiated grant and loan agreements, set up the new operating company, revised the business plan and developed the processes and governance structures needed to make the Project a success.

London Re-use Limited welcomes Charles Craft as the Managing Director. Charles brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role with operational management in logistics, supply chain management and sales as well as excellent leadership and management skills. He started on the 4th January and will lead this important venture through its all important steps to success.

July 2010 Launch Announcement
On Monday 12 July, LCRN members gathered at 7am, ready for the big day - We were going to be awarded £8m to start the Project. LCRN met in front of City Hall to start the construction of the furniture re-use sculpture. Set up was smooth and we were finished in no time. Photographers were at the ready and by 9.45am Boris, Joanna, James and Matthew all came out and shared with us their passion to see the London Re-use Network succeed. It was great for our network of re-use organisations to get recognition from the top - we've all been given the chance to make London cleaner, greener and reduce re-useable items going into landfill.

Media Coverage
The celebrity announcement of LRN attracted media coverage including BBC London, ITV and Xinhua State TV (China!). We were in print in the Daily Telegraph and some other newspapers. This list reflects a good cross section of the online coverage.
