Hackney Community Composting Support

Funding Available!
Are you a growing group that would like to compost your spoiled vegetables and plants and would like some equipment to speed up the process? Do you represent a school or group of residents that are keen to compost their food waste locally so that they can use the compost for their gardens? Are you based in the London Borough of Hackney? Well, maybe we can help.
Following the successful brokerage of equipment and support to three new sites last spring, LCRN and ecoACTIVE have once again teamed up with the Recycling Team at Hackney Council to help four more keen gardening projects get their community composting schemes going strong. With the recent softening of the Animal By-Products Regulations for small-scale composting, there's never been a better time to explore what you can do with your community garden.
The main aim of the funding and support is to develop schemes that can manage garden and food waste locally, diverting it from Hackney Council’s waste collection service and creating compost for the benefit of residents. It will pay for and include a complete set of composting units to meet your needs, communications materials, a training workshop and support from the Hackney Council Recycling team.
The deadline to apply for support is Monday 30 January 2012. If you’re interested in receiving this funding and support and would like to apply, please download the 'How to Apply' leaflet on the right.
If you have any queries, you can contact Edouard on 020 7324 4703 or at organics@lcrn.org.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.
