Do you have furniture to donate?

If you have good quality furniture and appliances that you no longer need, are they in good enough condition to be reused?

Look at the list below to identify whether your furniture would be of use to a furniture reuse charity. Not all charities will collect all the items off the below list so check out the map for an indication of which projects collect furniture or appliances or both.

**Yes please**

The following items can usually be collected for reuse if they are in working order and in good condition:

1. Furniture

  • Wardrobe (assembled only)
  • Dining table and set of chairs
  • Chest of drawers
  • Settee (fire compliant)
  • Arm chairs (fire compliant)
  • Beds and mattresses (assembled, fire compliant and clean)

2. What to look out for:

Green square label stitched under cushion or on mattress for means it is compliant

Red warning triangle means that it does not comply with fire safety regulations appliances

3. Appliances

  • Fridge, freezer or fridge freezer (in reasonable working order and clean)
  • Washing machine (in reasonable working order and clean)
  • Tumble/spin drier (in reasonable working order and clean)
  • Cooker (in reasonable working order and clean)
  • Vacuum cleaner (in reasonable working order and clean)

***No thanks***

Whilst we are always grateful for donations of furniture which we can readily pass on, we are not able to collect furniture and appliances that are not in good working condition.

The following items can NOT be collected by furniture and appliance reuse charities:

  • Broken or dirty furniture
  • Bicycles
  • Bedding
  • Clothing
  • Computers
  • Fixtures like baths sinks and built in units

The above is a guideline so please check with your local charity whether it’s something they are in need of.
