More about the reuse network: what we do from the London CRN office

1. Project support and co-ordination

London FRN provides support to the 17 furniture reuse organisations across London. This includes:

  • business and technical support to projects
  • a regional voice for the reuse sector
  • bringing the sector together to generate collective value
  • representation of the sector to government and the commercial sector

2. Developing partnerships

Local Authorities: London FRN supports the development of strategic partnerships and service level agreements between the furniture projects and their local authorities. We work cohesively with both parties to ensure the most effective terms of contracts are negotiated.

Housing Associations: London FRN has embarked on a strategic campaign to create partnerships between furniture reuse and the social housing sector. Promotional material has been designed to target residents of housing associations and partnership agreements between housing associations and the sector are being drawn up. This campaign will see an increase in the supply of low-cost furniture to people living in financial hardship in London and will lead to the development of structured volunteer and training opportunities at projects for housing association tenants.

3. Improving Public awareness

  • encouraging people to buy reuse, especially low income households needing  essential household items.
  • encouraging people who wish to donate good quality furniture & appliances.

4. Trainee & volunteer opportunities

London FRN publicise volunteer and trainee opportunities at reuse projects, develop the placement capacity at projects and improve the quality of the volunteering experience for those who take part
