representation

Representation and lobbying on behalf of its membership is an important part of London CRN’s work. It works hard to raise the profile at a local, regional and national scale with the overarching objective of making community-based sustainable waste management the preferred solution – financially, socially and environmentally – for the people of London.

Much of this representation is conducted on a structured basis through the range of committees and boards that the organisation sits on;

  • London's Regional Technical Advisory Body (RTAB) on waste
  • The London Regional Strategic Advisory Forum on Waste
  • The London Recycling Fund board
  • Founding partner of the Community Recycling and Economic Development (CRED) Consortium (A Big Lottery Fund programme)
  • Defra’s Waste Implementation Programme Community Sector Support regional development steering group
  • The Western Riverside Environment Fund board

Additionally, London CRN attends events and seminars both to make personal contact with individuals and to take up the numerous requests it receives to speak at events.

consultations

London CRN also comments on consultations, government documents of relevance to the sector and its membership. Additionally, members are kept up-to-date on consultations via the weekly 'e-news recycling round up' and invited to comment on consultations directly or collectively via London CRN.

achievements

During 2004 London CRN supported member organisations to lever in £9million across a range of projects and activities. Furthermore, its activities have resulted in a number of new partnerships between its members and a number of London Boroughs - some of these partnerships are highlighted in the members' case studies.
