Tools Shed is a part of the Conservation Foundation, and aims to equip the next generation of gardeners, teach prisoners new skills, and reduce waste.

Tools Shed seeks to solve the gardener's perennial problem: what to do with tools that are too broken to use but too good to throw away? Donate them to Tools Shed, where they can be repaired and put to good use. This project is run in partnership with HM Prisons, and tools are available free to schools and community gardens in the areas surrounding the prisons where the project operates.

Emmaus Communities enable people to move on from homelessness, providing work and a home in a supportive, family environment. Companions, as residents are known, work full time collecting renovating and reselling donated furniture. This work supports the Community financially and enables residents to develop skills, rebuild their self-respect and help others in greater need. Companions receive accommodation, food, clothing and a small weekly allowance, but for many, the greatest benefit is a fresh start.

To encourage, enable and support individuals to grow some food in whatever outdoor space they have. And in so doing, for those individuals to form local networks to share advice, home-grown produce and possibly even friendship!
